“This instrument, as you can easily imagine at first glance, carries with it a very particular story. It was conceived as a heartfelt tribute to an encounter between people who were able to profoundly influence each other’s lives. A Tango master who has passed away, and a friend who wished to honor his memory through the creation of this instrument. The references to Tango culture are evident, and there is little need for me to dwell on describing them. Particularly interesting was the approach to the project proposed by my client, with technical specifications aimed at creating an instrument with distinctive proportions. Starting with the neck dimensions, featuring a 47 mm nut width, and ending with the thickness of the body, which is 1 cm thicker than standard Gibson measurements, allowing for a richer response in terms of semi-acoustic nuances. “This guitar takes its lines from the Aquafan model, an original Shank Instruments design to which I’m deeply attached. Once again, the top is made of figured black poplar from Lombardy, a wood I’ve been using extensively lately and one that I hold in the highest regard for its tonal response, visual impact, and workability. It’s a fine tonewood that isn’t always given the appreciation it deserves. The Italian ash body completes the semi-hollow construction. Ebony fingerboard and a modern-design flamed maple neck. The Italian-made Alnico 2 pickups are remarkable. A beautiful instrument to enjoy all day long — not only at sunset“… Let’s Play.”

“I only knew it had to be as white as possible, thin, light, and adorned with generous doses of pearloid. Three pickups, a free-way selector, a Variatone, and, if possible, an extra compartment on the headstock to make bending easier. I had no idea what kind of music its future owner would play, but that didn’t matter. What mattered was the contagious enthusiasm my client poured into the project and the uniqueness of the idea—an irresistible challenge I couldn’t help but take on with equal passion. Then, when it was finally finished, I handed it over. And with just the first four notes, my client told me exactly where this instrument was meant to go and in which territory it would begin to make itself heard. MONZA

“The famous parabolic curve of the old Monza racetrack is truly impressive. I had never visited it until Jules, a French luthier friend who was assisting me during a workshop in my lab, invited me to go and walk its steep slopes. I’m not sure why, but somehow, the memory of that surreal curve inspired us to build this guitar once we were back in the workshop. And so we did.”… Let’s Play

The guitar is offered at a discounted price due to a small mark of approximately 2 mm in diameter which accidentally occurred on the top, in the knob area, during the period of exposure in the workshop and a slight fading of the varnish on the edge of the top of the headstock. In any case, the instrument is to be considered new and never used with the exception of brief occasional tests. I am obviously available to provide photographic documentation of the signs in question upon request.
