Description
“Curious coincidences led me to call this guitar the name that, in my time, was attributed to cigarettes that were longer than normal, almost identical to standard cigarettes but simply longer. They were called 100’s and you had to ask for them like that at the tobacconist to get them. That little difference that was noticeable though. The packet was longer and the cigarette had a completely different effect in the mouth. Here I wanted an instrument that was inspired by my Tangier model but with some differences. A slightly larger body, a slightly higher thickness of the sides and a soundport. I talked about it with a dear musician friend of mine to get some indications and suggestions from an end user and, in the end, this is how the instrument was born. My friend, partner of the project who I take this opportunity to thank here, is called Gabriele Cento by no coincidence. Curious coincidence.” Note for English speaking friends: the last name, Cento, means number 100 in Italian…”… Let’s Play

This entirely hand built instrument is substantially inspired by the lines of the body and the construction specifications of the “Tangier” model which you will find illustrated on the pages of this site both in the acoustic version with metal strings and in the version with nylon strings. The “100’s” model found inspiration in the desire and will to create an instrument with the same design but with a larger volume body, for greater power in terms of volume and for an improved depth of sound spectrum and projection, obtained from a perimeter with measurements increased with the same height of the sides. The soundport adds to the novelties of this model. The soundboard is made of hand carved solid spruce, the back and sides are made of mahogany. This model is also equipped with a piezo system under the bone bridge saddle.
The instrument is new and considered an ex-demo guitar. It is sold at a reduced price due to a small imperfection following a small repair on the soundboard. Photos of the point in question are available.
