Description
“The one in the photo is a very common poplar tree, of the black variety (populus nigra). As you can see many of them on the roadsides and in the fields in the northern regions of Italy, where I live and work. It has been part of the landscape for centuries with its foliage always ready to bend in the wind and then return still, immobile, to the summer sun. A plant that we have always been used to seeing but which few recognize as one of the varieties of luthiery wood that is definitely appreciated in every field for the spectacular figurations of its fibers. It is so well known, especially abroad, that it has earned the nickname “Lombardy Poplar”, the region in which, coincidentally, I live and build musical instruments.”… Let’s Play
